Retail POS is designed, built, and tested to be used on multiple setups and operating systems, including multiple browsers, and supports numerous peripheral hardware. With the help of this guide, you can confirm which hardware is supported when using Lightspeed Retail on desktop or iPad.
Purchasing hardware
You can purchase supported hardware directly from Lightspeed. Our online stores are customized for each region and only stock items that have been tested and verified by Lightspeed. If you choose to buy your hardware elsewhere, we encourage you to purchase the supported models listed in this article.

Operating system and browser compatibility
Retail POS is compatible with both Apple's macOS operating system and Microsoft's Windows operating system. Because Retail POS is a web-based POS, it requires the use of web browsers. We recommend Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for optimal performance.
We also recommend staying up-to-date with the latest available version of your operating system and web browser. Use the table below to learn what Retail POS currently supports:

Touchscreen display
A touchscreen display takes the place of your regular monitor and lets associates ring up sales quickly using touch input instead of a keyboard and mouse. You can choose between any touchscreens on the market that are compatible with your computer's operating system.
Customer Facing Display
Customer Facing Display (CFD) allows your customers to preview sales in real-time on a secondary display. A secondary display can be connected using the Lightspeed Hub desktop app (recommended) or without the Lightspeed Hub desktop app via a web browser.

The Retail POS app requires iPads to run on iOS 14.5 or higher to continue receiving Retail POS updates in the App Store.

Customer Facing Display
Customer Facing Display (CFD) allows your customers to preview sales in real-time on a secondary iPad.
With an iPad setup, the only recommended and supported setup is to connect to a secondary iPad. The iPad models and iOS versions that are compatible with the Lightspeed CFD iOS app are the same as those compatible with the Retail POS app.
