Hi. How can we help?

Setting up the Epson TM-m30/TM-m30II-NT LAN

The Epson TM-m30 and TM-m30II-NT receipt printers can connect to your computer or iPad in two different ways:

  • USB: Connects directly to your computer with a USB cable. Connecting to your iPad with a Lightning to USB cable is only supported with the Epson TM-m30II-NT.
  • LAN: Connects directly to your network with a LAN cable. Your computer or iPad then connects to your printer through your network.

Before you begin

  • To set up your printer, you first need to install Lightspeed Hub on your computer. It also connects directly to Lightspeed Retail POS, bringing you a reliable connection to your hardware throughout your business day.

  • You're all set! There are no prerequisites to set up this printer with an iPad setup.

The images below are of the Epson TM-m30. The location of the ports varies slightly for the Epson TM-m30II-NT.

  1. Remove the back and bottom covers of your printer.

3. Add your printer

  • Adding your printer on desktop

Before you connect your printer to Hub, make sure your computer is connected to the same network as your printer. For help connecting to your network on your computer, please see the Apple and Windows Help Centers.

    1. On your computer, open Lightspeed Hub.
    2. Under Receipt printer, select Connect.

You can only connect one printer to Hub at a time. To connect a new printer, select Forget this device to disconnect the printer that's currently connected.

    3. Select Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
    4. Select Search for printers. After a few seconds, your printer will display in the list as Ready. If not, make sure it's connected to a power source and that your computer is connected to the same network as your printer.
    5. Select Connect next to your printer.

Note sure which is your printer? Select Print test print next to your printer. Otherwise, you can remove the back cover to see its serial number and match it to the one listed in Hub.

Your printer will now display as Ready in both Hub and Retail POS.

  • Adding your printer on iPad

Before you add your printer to Retail POS, make sure your iPad is connected to the same network as your printer.

Once both your iPad and your printer are on the same network, Retail POS will list all the printers that it finds on your network. This way, you can easily add your printer from the Profile screen. If your printer isn't on the list, however, you can add it manually by entering its IP address.

Add your printer from a list of printers on your network

    1. On your iPad, open Retail POS.

    Add your printer manually

To add your printer manually, you need your receipt printer's IP address. It should have printed when you connected your printer.

If you need to print your IP address again, start by powering off your printer. Then while pressing and holding the Feed button, power the printer back on until your IP address prints. This usually takes a few seconds.

Once you have your printer's IP address, add it manually:

    1. On your iPad, open Retail POS.
    2. On the Profile screen, under Devices, tap Receipt printer.receiptprinter__2_.png
    3. Tap Add printer.addprinter__1___1_.png
    4. Tap Epson TM-m30.epsontmm30_add.png
    5. Enter your printer's name and IP address and tap Add.epsontmm30_ip.png
    6. Optionally, enable Automatically print receipt switch if you want receipts to print automatically when you complete a sale or refund. Alternatively, leave it disabled if you want to print receipts manually at the end of a sale or refund.
    7. Tap Done. Your printer will display as Connected on the Profile screen.Group_1__4_.png

4. Print a test receipt

  • Printing a test receipt on desktop

The fastest way to print a test receipt is under Settings Locations. Alternatively, you can print the receipt of a completed sale from the Totals report. If you don't have access to settings or reports, you can print a test receipt by making a sale and voiding it afterwards (or asking a manager to).

    1. In Retail POS, go to Settings Locations.
    2. Select Customize next to your location.
    3. In the submenu, select Receipt Setup.
    4. Select Print Preview.
