Socket Mobile's SocketScan 7 Series, 700 Series and DuraScan Series of barcode scanners connect to your desktop or iPad via Bluetooth, allowing you to scan your items wirelessly. The following models are currently supported by Retail POS:
Socket Mobile 7 Series:

SocketScan 700 Series:
- S700 (1D barcodes only)

Charging your barcode scanner
Fully charge your barcode scanner for six hours before using it for the first time.
To charge your barcode scanner:
- Connect the power pin end of the Charging Connector to the Power Connector on the right side of the barcode scanner.
- Connect the USB end of the Charging Connector to an AC Power Supply.
Connecting to a computer's USB port is not recommended.
- Connect the AC Power Supply to a power outlet.
To indicate that the barcode scanner is charging, the scanner's battery light will turn amber. Once the scanner is fully charged, the battery light will turn green.

Pairing your barcode scanner
Your device must be Bluetooth compatible to pair with the Socket Mobile scanner.
- Press and hold the power button until the Bluetooth LED turns blue and the scanner beeps twice. Your barcode scanner is now powered on.
- Ensure your scanner is set to the right mode:
- For use with your Desktop, you'll need to ensure the scanner is set to Keyboard Mode. To enable Keyboard Mode, scan the following barcode:

By default, your barcode scanner is set to Basic Mode. To use your barcode scanner and keyboard at the same time in the Retail POS app, you need to set the scanner to Application Mode. To do so, scan the following barcode. The scanner will beep three times to indicate that it has changed modes.
If scanning the barcode from your screen doesn't work, you can print and scan the barcode. Confirm that the barcode doesn't stretch during the printing process, as this will make it unscannable. You can find these barcodes also listed in Socket Mobile's User Guide.
- For use with your Desktop, you'll need to ensure the scanner is set to Keyboard Mode. To enable Keyboard Mode, scan the following barcode:
- Connect your barcode scanner:

On your Windows PC, open the Settings page by clicking the Windows icon and then clicking the Settings cog. Alternatively, you can search for settings in the bottom-left search bar.
- In Settings, click Devices.
- Click Add Bluetooth or other device.
- Select Bluetooth.
- Your PC will search for nearby Bluetooth devices. Once your PC finds the Socket scanner, click it to pair.
- Wait until the scanner emits a single beep to indicate it has paired with your PC. Click Done in the pop-up menu to finish.
Your scanner is now connected.

- On your Mac, navigate to System Settings by clicking the Apple icon at the top-left of your screen and then System Settings.
- Click Bluetooth.
- Your Mac will search for nearby Bluetooth devices. Once the scanner has been detected, click Connect.
- Wait a few seconds until the Socket emits a single beep to indicate that the Mac has successfully paired with the scanner.
Your scanner is now connected.

- On your iPad, tap Settings > Bluetooth.
- Make sure the Bluetooth toggle is on.
- Under Other Devices, tap your barcode scanner. Once the pairing process is complete, your barcode scanner is displayed as Connected under My Devices. The Bluetooth light will turn solid.
If you've paired the wrong barcode scanner, press and hold the Scan button followed by the Power button. The scanner will power off. Power the scanner on and its Bluetooth will blink quickly if the scanner is discoverable.
If you're having issues pairing your barcode scanner with your iPad, try turning your iPad's Bluetooth switch off and back on. If you're still having issues, perform a factory reset.

Testing your barcode scanner
Now that your barcode scanner is paired to your computer, test it by scanning an item in Retail POS:
- In Retail POS, navigate to Sales > New sale.
- Scan an item that you have in your inventory with your barcode scanner.
If the barcode scanner is successfully connected, the scanned item will be added to the sale.
