Security tip of the month

Tip

Beware of ClickFix scams

ClickFix, a social engineering tactic that uses fake websites with "verification" or "CAPTCHA" popups, tricks users into running commands or code to secretly install malware on their computer.

How it works

  1. You open a link in a phishing email, click a malicious ad, or visit an unsafe website. The page might ask you to prove you're "not a robot" or "fix a page display issue", for example.
  2. The page instructs you to perform specific actions or run commands, like copying and pasting code into your Terminal or Command Prompt.
  3. Malware or other harmful programs are downloaded onto your computer.
