Lightspeed Retail POS allows you to view balances and details, transfer gift card balances, and track gift cards over time.
Tracking gift cards
By navigating to Customers > Gift Cards, you can track what's happening with the gift cards you've sold.
If on iPad, tap the Manager tab and then Customers > Gift Cards.
The Overview section displays how your gift cards performed over a specific date range. This includes four key performance indicators (KPIs):
- Active gift cards: The number of gift cards activated during the date range.
- Total amount sold: The total monetary value added to gift cards during the date range.
- Total amount redeemed: The total monetary value charged to gift cards during the date range.
- Total amount unredeemed: The total monetary value charged to gift cards during the date range that hasn't yet been redeemed.
You can change the date range by using the dropdown.
Under the overview, all your gift cards will be listed. You can filter them by status:
- Active: Gift cards with a balance greater than $0 that haven't been redeemed yet.
- Redeemed: Gift cards with a balance of $0 that have been fully redeemed.
- Partial: Gift cards with a balance greater than $0 that have been partially redeemed.
- Canceled: Gift cards that have been canceled.
- Transferred: Gift cards whose balances were transferred to new gift cards.
The Recycled status is no longer available.
Viewing gift card balances and details
To view more details about a specific card, select the gift card code, using the filters to search for it if necessary. Searching by a customer's name to find a gift card is not currently supported.
On the Gift card details page for a specific gift card, you can view the current balance, any customer ID attached to the sale, email purchase history, purchase date, and gift card history. You can also resend a gift card by selecting Email gift card and/or cancel the gift card.
Some employee roles may not have permissions to view complete gift card codes on the overview page. You can change permissions to allow employee roles to see these codes.
Transferring gift card balances
After canceling a gift card, you can choose to move the remaining balance to a new card with a new code.
Before transferring a balance to a new card, the old card must be canceled first.
- On the canceled card's details page, click Transfer balance.
- In the pop-up window, enter a new gift card code (or leave it blank to auto-generate a new code) and enter the customer's email address. The Amount field will be automatically filled out with the remaining balance of the canceled card; this amount can't be changed.
- Click Transfer balance.
The canceled gift card will appear as Transferred on the gift card overview page.
