Transferring Retail POS account ownership

Transferring ownership can be a complicated process and requirements vary from region to region. For more information, we recommend seeking legal advice.

If you're in the process of selling your business or changing ownership, you may want to transfer your store or some of your store's data to the new owner. You can also export your product and customer data before switching to the new owner. To view your current account owner details, navigate to Settings > Account settings.

Account ownership changes can only be processed by our Billing team. The Billing team will verify account ownership before processing any transfer requests.

Applying to change ownership through account back office

To complete the change of ownership in your Lightspeed Retail (R-Series) account's back office:

  1. In your Lightspeed account, navigate to Financial Services > Lightspeed Payments.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. In the Business Details section, click Change.
  4. Select Change of business ownership or business structure when prompted.
  5. Complete the application wizard with the new owner's details.

Changing of ownership through the account back office may cause a temporary hold on daily deposits for up to five business days while the change is reviewed.
