Transferring Retail POS account ownership

Account ownership changes can only be processed by the Retail Support Billing team

If you're in the process of selling your business or changing ownership, you may want to transfer your store or some of your store's data to the new owner.

To transfer account ownership, you'll need to contact the Billing team at billing@lightspeedhq.com.

Include these details in your request:

  • The current owner information.

    You can view your current account owner details by navigating to Settings > Account settings in Retail POS.

  • The new owner's complete details.
  • The reason for the ownership transfer.

The Billing team will verify account ownership before processing any transfer requests.

Transferring ownership can be a complicated process and requirements vary from region to region. To determine specific requirements for your business, consult with your legal counsel.

You can export your product and customer data before transferring to the new owner.

Changing Lightspeed Payments information

After contacting the Retail Support Billing team to process your change of ownership request, you can update your Lightspeed Payments business details in your Financial services merchant portal.

To request a change of ownership:

  1. In your Retail POS, navigate to Financial Services > Lightspeed Payments.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. In the Business Details section, click Change.
  4. When prompted, select Change of business ownership or business structure.
  5. Complete the application wizard with the new owner's details.

Submitting a change of ownership request may cause a temporary hold on daily deposits for up to five business days while the change is reviewed.

Adding users and updating permissions

To add a new user in Retail POS:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Employee Setup.
  2. Click + New Employee.
  3. Select the role type from the dropdown menu.
  4. Fill in the user's information.
  5. In the Contact section, select the preferred contact method.
  6. Click Save Changes.

To set up user's login credentials:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Employee Setup.
  2. Click on the employee's name.
  3. Click the Sign In tab.
  4. Enter a unique email address in the Login Name field.
  5. Create a password (minimum 10 characters).
  6. Re-type the password to confirm.
  7. Check the Pin Active box.
  8. Click Save Changes.
