Hi. How can we help?

Setting up your barcode scanner on your iPad

All iPad bundles come with Bluetooth-enabled barcode scanners. To start scanning items, all you need to do is pair your barcode scanner with your iPad. Then, configure it to a certain mode. How to do this varies slightly depending on your bundle.

The Zebra CS6080—included with the NoAm bundle—comes pre-paired and pre-configured for you and requires little setup. As for the Socket Mobile S700—included in the EMEA bundle—you'll need to follow some simple steps to pair and configure it yourself. We'll show you how in the instructions below.

  • The Zebra CS60800 barcode scanner connects to your iPad via Bluetooth and allows you to scan your items wirelessly. It's compatible with 1D and 2D barcodes.

Because your barcode scanner is pre-paired and pre-configured for you before it's shipped, it shouldn't need any setup. All you need to do is turn on the barcode scanner and open the Retail POS app to connect it. Before using it in your shop for the first time, we also recommend fully charging its battery.

    What you need

To set up your barcode scanner, you need the following from your iPad bundle:

Note: Zebra's CS6080 Quick Start Guide and CS6080 Scanner Product Reference Guide are also helpful to have on hand in your shop, should you ever need to troubleshoot your barcode scanner. The troubleshooting article in the Help Center includes the Zebra barcodes you need and you can scan them directly from the screen of your device. However, Zebra's guides give you a paper copy of them, which could be useful to have as a backup. You can also refer to Zebra's guides for more in-depth information about the CS6080 barcode scanner.

Note: If scanning the barcodes in this setup directly from your iPad's screen doesn't work, try printing this Help article and scanning the printed copy of the barcodes instead. If you do, however, make sure to not stretch them in the printing process as it'll make it unscannable. The barcodes are also available in Socket Mobile's SocketScan S700 User Guide that came with your barcode scanner.
