Accepting tips from a customer at checkout begins the same as a typical sale. Once it's time for your customer to pay by card, this is when they'll have the option to tip your employee for their services. To illustrate how you can accept tips with a desktop or iPad setup, here are examples of the steps involved:
- Start a new sale.
- Once your customer is ready to pay, select Payment > Credit/Debit Card.
- Confirm the terminal and amount and select Start.
- On your Customer Facing Display, your customer needs to review the sale and select Confirm order.
- Then, they can either select a tipping option, select No tip or enter a custom tip. The total at the top of the screen will update based on their selection.
- To continue, they need to select Proceed to payment. They'll be prompted to complete their payment on the terminal.
- On the terminal, they need to complete their card payment. A confirmation will display on the terminal and in Retail POS to confirm the payment was successful.
- In Retail POS, select Finish Sale.
A confirmation will display on your CFD to confirm the payment was successful and the sale was completed. You should now have successfully made a sale and accepted a tip from your customer.
Accepting tips from customers with an iPad setup varies depending on whether you're using a Customer Facing Display (CFD) or simply turning your iPad towards them.Accepting tips using a CFD
