Editing products linked to eCom (E-Series)

Whether you sell online or offline, Retail POS is the source of truth for your products. To ensure that product information is shared correctly on all platforms, you should edit general product information within Retail POS. However, some online-specific settings can be managed from your eCom Admin Panel.

Editing products from Retail POS

General product information is synced from Retail POS to eCom.

To edit general product information in Retail POS:

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Item Search.

  2. Click on the product you wish to edit, using the search filters if necessary.

  4. Click Save Changes.

  5. You can also choose to Manage online details or View in online store in the eCommerce (E-Series) section.

    Merchants also integrated with eCommerce (C-Series), including those currently migrating, will see both the eCommerce (E-Series) and eCommerce (C-Series) sections. 

Your product information will be updated on Retail POS as well as in eCom (E-Series).

Editing products from eCom Admin Panel

Some of your product's features can be edited on eCom. These include:

  • Assigning categories to products
  • Adding video to the product gallery
  • Adding product ribbons
  • Adding product subtitles
  • Setting purchase quantity limits for selling online
  • Uploading files to sell digital products (music, art, video lessons, etc.)
  • Setting up product-specific shipping methods
  • Setting up product-specific shipping rates
  • Changing the tax rate for a particular product
  • Changing the product page title and meta description for SEO
  • Assigning related products to a product
  • Generating a Buy Now button (an embeddable product card with a button to add an item to the cart and continue to checkout from that page) to sell the product on a landing page or elsewhere

To edit a product from the eCom Admin Panel:

  1. In Retail POS, click on Retail (R-Series).

  2. Click eCom (E-Series) in the dropdown.
  3. In eCom, click CatalogProducts.
  4. Find the product you wish to edit, using the search filters if necessary.
  5. Next to your product, click Edit Product.

  6. Make your desired edits.

  7. Click Save.

The changes will save to your eCom storefront and may sync to Retail POS (R-Series), depending on the nature of the edited information. You can learn more about the syncing relationships between eCom and Retail POS.

Editing product URLs

eCom (E-Series) automatically generates SEO-friendly URLs for your products. To further enhance customer experience, you can customize these URLs, making them more memorable for your audience. The product's previous URL will redirect to the new one.

Custom URLs are automatically available in all stores registered after June 17, 2024. If you signed up earlier and want to use this feature, you can enable it in your eCom (E-Series) Settings > What's new.

To edit a specific product's URL:

  1. In Retail POS, click on Retail (R-Series).

  2. Click eCom (E-Series) in the dropdown.
  3. In eCom (E-Series), navigate to Catalog > Products.

  4. Click on the product you wish to edit, using the search filters if necessary.

  5. Click the SEO tab.

  6. Click Customize product URL.

  7. Your product's current URL will be displayed. Type in any desired changes.

  8. Click Save.

The URL for your product will now be updated. Your previous URL will redirect to the new one.
