Lightspeed Retail offers a streamlined label printing process, allowing you to print customized labels individually and when processing a purchase order or transfer. You can also manage a label queue to print labels in batches.
About labels
Labels include important item details by default but can be customized to meet your needs.
- Price.
- Description.
- System ID barcode.
- Shop name (only included on standard labels 2.00 x 1.00 or 5.08 cm x 2.54 cm and bigger).
Label sizes
You can print three standard and one jewelry label sizes with supported label printers:
Standard labels
Sizes (in inches and cm):
- 2.25" x 1.25" or 5.71 cm x 3.17 cm
- 2.00" x 1.00" or 5.08 cm x 2.54 cm
- 1.25" x 1.00" or 3.17 cm x 2.54 cm
Jewelry labels
Sizes (in inches and cm):
- 2.20" x 0.50" or 5.59 cm x 1.27 cm
Printing labels from item search
- Navigate to Inventory > Item Search and locate the item you want to print a label for.
- Click the label icon beside an item or click an item's name, then click Print Label.
- Click Select label size to choose a label size.
- Click Print.
If labels print misaligned, you can adjust the margins by clicking the + or - buttons under Adjust label margins.
Printing labels from a purchase order
Labels can be printed in multiple ways when processing a purchase order.
- Received items are automatically added to the label queue in Inventory > Print Labels.
- The Print > All Labels button will print all the labels of the items on order. The number of labels printed is based on each item's order quantity in the purchase order.
- The Print > Received Labels button will print labels for the items from this purchase that have been marked as received. The number of labels printed is based on each item's received quantity.
- The Print button next to an item's name will print that item's label. You can adjust how many labels to print in the label printing window that appears.
- Navigate to Inventory > Purchase Orders.
- Select a purchase order by clicking the ID or Status.
- Use the Print > All Labels or Received Labels buttons to print multiple labels at once. Or, print labels for items individually.
- Click Select label size to choose a label size.
- Click Print.
If labels print misaligned, you can adjust the margins by clicking the + or - buttons under Adjust label margins.
Printing labels from a transfer
Use the Print Labels button within Transfers to print labels efficiently.
- Navigate to Inventory > Transfers.
- Select a transfer by clicking its ID number.
- Click the Print Labels button.
- If the transfer is In transit, labels will be printed for all items.
- If the transfer is Received, labels will be printed according to the received quantity of each item.
- Click Select label size to choose a label size.
- Click Print.
If labels print misaligned, you can adjust the margins by clicking the + or - buttons under Adjust label margins.
Using the label queue
Creating a new item or receiving inventory from a purchase order automatically adds labels to the label queue. Labels can also be added to the label queue individually or through the item import tool.
Adding individual labels
To add labels from the inventory search:
- Navigate to Inventory > Item Search.
- Hover over the label icon to the left of the item name you want to add to the label queue and click the + button.
To add a label from the product page:
- Navigate to Inventory > Item search.
- Click on the item to show the product page.
- Click Add label.
Adding labels from imported items
- Finalize your item import so that it is marked as Done.
- Navigate to Inventory > Import Items
- Select the Item Import in question.
- Click Add Labels to queue for Items with Inventory.
Printing the label queue
- Navigate to Inventory > Print Labels to view the label queue.
- Verify the number of copies for each label is correct.
- To print individual labels, click the print icon to the left of the item names. To print all labels in the queue, click Print All.
- Click Select label size to choose a label size.
- Click Print.
If labels print misaligned, you can adjust the margins by clicking the + or - buttons under Adjust label margins.
Clearing the label queue
Labels printed successfully will be marked as Printed in the queue. Clearing the label queue can help you organize what batch of labels to print next.
- Clear printed labels by selecting Clear Printed.
- Empty the label queue by clicking Clear All.
- Remove individual labels by clicking the delete icon next to the item name.
