To set up your printer on desktop, first install Lightspeed Hub on your computer. Lightspeed Hub is a desktop application that helps you to set up your hardware in fewer steps and guides you through the process. It also connects directly to Retail POS, bringing you a reliable connection to your hardware throughout your business day.

Connecting your printer

Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) is a feature that lets you easily connect WPS-supported devices (such as your printer) to your router wirelessly. If your router does not support WPS, you can connect your printer with AP mode but this setup is not supported.

To connect your printer:

  1. Connect the power cable to your printer and an electrical outlet.

  2. Turn on your printer.

  3. On the back of your printer, press and hold the red PAIR button until the blue READY LED light on the front of your printer starts blinking.
  4. On your router, press the WPS button.

Step 3 and 4 need to be done within 30 seconds of each other.

The READY LED light will be solid once your printer and router are connected.

Inserting a paper roll

  1. To open the printer's cover, push the lever on the right-hand side of the cover away from you and lift the cover upwards.
  2. Insert the paper roll in an underhand paper orientation. Make sure the paper roll stays taut and doesn't unroll.

  3. Pull the paper out past the cutter at the front of the printer.
  4. Push the cover down to snap the lever shut.

The printer's IP address will print to confirm it's successfully connected to your network.

Connecting your printer

  • Connecting your printer to Hub (desktop)

Before you connect your printer to Hub, make sure your computer is connected to the same network as your printer.

    1. On your computer, open Lightspeed Hub.
    2. Under Receipt printer, select Connect.

You can only connect one printer to Hub at a time. To connect a new printer, select Forget this device to disconnect the printer that's currently connected.

    3. Select Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
    4. Select Search for printers. After a few seconds, your printer will display in the list as Ready. If not, make sure it's connected to a power source and that your computer is connected to the same network as your printer.
    5. Select Connect next to your printer. If you're not sure which one is your printer, select Print test print next to your printer or check the serial number on the sticker underneath it.

Your printer will now display as Ready in both Hub and Retail POS.

  • Adding your printer to Retail POS on iPad

Before you add your printer to Retail POS, make sure your iPad is connected to the same network as your printer. Once both your iPad and your printer are on the same network, Retail POS will list all the printers that it finds on your network. If your printer isn't on the list, you can add it manually by entering its IP address.

    1. On your iPad, open Retail POS.
    2. On the Profile screen, under Devices, tap Receipt printer.
