Hi. How can we help?

Setting up payment processing with Cayan's Verifone P400+ terminal

The Verifone P400+ is an EMV-enabled payment terminal for Cayan payment processing in Lightspeed Retail. The P400+ is compatible with Lightspeed Retail for desktop and the Lightspeed Retail app for iOS.

In the box

  • Verifone P400+ terminal
  • Communications module
  • Ethernet cable
  • 12V Power adapter

Physical setup

  1. Open the back of the terminal by sliding the back tab up and out.
  2. Plug the communication module into the back of the terminal.
  3. Replace the tab on the back of the terminal.
  4. Plug the 12V power adapter in the electrical port on the communication module.
  5. Plug your ethernet cable into the port labeled ETH on the communication module.
  6. Plug the other end of the ethernet cable into your router.
  7. Plug the other end of the 12V power cable into a power source.

Adding the P400+ payment terminal to your network

Before the terminal can be added to your Lightspeed Retail account, it needs to be connected to your local network. Once the terminal is plugged into a power source, it will automatically begin a boot-up and update sequence. This process typically takes several minutes. Once completed, the terminal screen displays the Genius by Cayan idle screen. You can now connect the terminal to your network.

  1. From the terminal's Genius by Cayan idle screen, enter 000 on the device's keypad.
  2. Enter the password 9416557
  3. On the terminal's screen, tap Network > Test to initiate a communication test between the terminal and Cayan’s servers.
  4.  Once all the tests pass, press the red X (cancel) button on the terminal's keypad to return to the Genius by Cayan idle screen.

Note: If the gateway communication tests do not pass, tap the on-screen Back > Restart buttons. Once the terminal reboots, you may attempt the test again. If the test still fails, contact Cayan customer support.

Configuring the Cayan gateway

  • Configuring the Cayan gateway on your computer

If you have not already enabled Cayan as your default gateway, you will need to configure your payment settings before the payment terminal can be added to your account. You will need to refer to the gateway credentials sent to you by Cayan. If you do not have this information on hand, contact Cayan.

    1. Log in to Lightspeed Retail as an administrator using your username and password.
    2. Navigate to Settings > Payment Processing.
