Managing exclusions in Lightspeed Advanced Marketing

When you integrate Lightspeed Advanced Marketing and Retail POS, you can choose to exclude specific products or customer groups from earning rewards.

Excluding specific products from earning rewards

You can update tags on products you want to exclude from earning Lightspeed Advanced Loyalty rewards. This means when a customer buys a product with a specific tag, they will not earn loyalty points on the purchase.

  1. In Retail POS, navigate to Inventory > Item search.
  2. Locate and click on the product you want to exclude from earning rewards.
  3. In the Tags section, enter a unique tag like “LoyaltyExclusion” and click + Add [tag] or press enter on your keyboard to add it.

  4. Click Save changes.
  5. Repeat steps for other products you want to exclude.
  6. In Marsello, navigate to Settings > Points program.
  7. In the [store name] Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) settings section, type your tag (example “LoyaltyExclusion”) in the Do not reward points on products that belong to one of these categories box.     It can take up to 15 minutes for product updates to sync from Retail POS.

  8. Click Save changes.

Excluding customer groups from earning rewards

You can exclude specific customer groups from earning Lightspeed Advanced Marketing rewards. Any customers added to this group will not earn loyalty rewards when making purchases. Customers can only belong to one customer group at a time.

  1. In Retail POS, navigate to Customers > Customer types.
  2. Click + New customer type and enter the group name, for example “Employees”.

  3. Click Save changes.
  4. To assign customers to the group, navigate to Customers > Customers and click on the customer’s name.
  5. In the Customer type dropdown, select the group you want to exclude.

  6. Click Save changes.
  7. Repeat steps for other customers you want to exclude.
  8. In Marsello, navigate to Settings > Points program.
  9. In the [store name] Lightspeed Retail (X-Series) settings section, select the customer group from the Exclude customers that are tagged with one of dropdown.   10. Click Save changes.
