We’re excited to share that we’re adding new data and new solutions to the Analytics Tax Collected report! The new fields will make it easier to compare taxes to Retail, easier to illustrate tax behavior, and easier to develop custom reports. Here are some of the new data points, and what we can expect them to do on Sales Tax report
New Data Points
Sale> Tax Name: The name of the Tax that is assigned to the entire sale
Sale> Tax Rates (Dimensions): The default percentage associated with the Sale Tax, applied unless Tax Classes override the default
Sale Line> Is Taxed: Separating the Taxable Sale Lines from the non-Taxable ones
Sale Line >Tax Class: The name of the Tax Class assigned to the Item or Sale Line
Sale Line> Tax Class Rates (Dimensions): The default percentage associated with the Tax Class
Tax Expectations
Now that we offer fuller visibility into the tax details, it will be important to understand which numbers are expected to produce which results on the tax reports.
Retail allows you to define a default Sales Tax that is applied to all Sales. However, Retail also allows you to define a default Tax Class for all items on Sales, as well as rules for when Tax Classes override the default Sales Tax.
Consequently, in Analytics, Tax Rates can be found in both the Sale and the Sale Line collection of Dimensions. The source of truth on these Tax Rates is the Sale Line Tax Class.
