  • Connecting Customer Facing Display (iPad setup)

Sharing the checkout experience with Customer Facing Display is made possible with the Lightspeed CFD iOS app. Once Lightspeed CFD is installed on your secondary iPad, simply open Retail POS on your primary iPad and connect to it.

For an optimal connection, both iPads need to be on the same network and have Bluetooth enabled under Settings. For optimal performance, it’s also recommended to keep the iPad connected to a power source at all times and use Apple's Guide Access to turn off features like Touch, Sleep/Wake Button, etc.

    1. After installing the Lightspeed CFD iOS app, open it on your secondary iPad.

Note the device name of your secondary iPad that displays at the bottom-left of the welcome screen.

    2. At the same time, on your primary iPad, open the Profile screen in Retail POS.
    3. Under Devices, tap Customer Facing Display.
    4. From the list of unpaired devices, select the device name of your secondary iPad. If you're currently connected to another iPad, tap Connect to confirm the switch.

You should now see a message confirming that the pairing is complete. Customer Facing Display should also display as connected on the Profile screen along with the device name of your secondary iPad.

    2. Show customer first name (if available): Displays the first name of the customer that's attached to the sale. This adds a personal touch to the checkout experience.
    3. Show connection status: Displays a discrete connection status light at the bottom-left of your secondary display. If the status is Ready, navigate to Devices in Retail POS and click Connect to Lightspeed Hub > Open Lightspeed Hub.

    4. Log messages to browser console: Logs information to help our Support team fix issues.

Branding your Customer Facing Display

Customer Facing Display can be customized to fit your shop's branding needs. You can add both a logo and a background image.

Preparing your images

When selecting images for your background and logo:

  • Images can be JPG or PNG (including transparencies)
  • Recommended background image size is 1024 x 768 px (minimum)
  • Recommended logo image size is 1080 x 1080 px (maximum)
    • Images are automatically resized to their largest possible dimensions capable of fitting the logo area
    • Black logo with a white background is recommended

The logo and background images you select under Settings > Company Branding also displays on receipts and other areas of Retail POS. If you use print templates with different logos for each shop in your account, Customer Facing Display will override this setting and use the background and logo under Settings > Company Branding.

Adding images to your display

To brand your display:

  1. In Retail POS, navigate to Settings > Company Branding.
  2. Upload a background image and/or logo. You can browse for the image files or drag and drop them.
  3. Click Done.

The background and logo should now update throughout your account, including your secondary display. If you’re using an iPad setup, you may need to sign out of Retail POS and sign back in on your primary iPad to update both iPads.

Viewing branding on the CFD

Once you've branded your display, your shop's background image fills the screen and the logo is centered when idle.

When a sale is in progress on your display, your logo slides to the left-hand side of the screen and the checkout displays on the right-hand side of the screen.

If you navigate away from the sale, your display will hide the sale that's in progress. Once you continue the sale, the sale details will show on your display again.

Disconnecting Customer Facing Display

Should you need to disconnect Customer Facing Display, select Disconnect in the Lightspeed Hub desktop app.
