Merging categories (Retail POS (R-Series)/eCom (C-Series) version)

Merging can only be done in your Retail account. Merging quickly reassigns items to a different category. If you merge a category into another in your Retail account, all its subcategories will follow (if it has any) and the category that is merged in is deleted.

Merging is destructive to the eCom category. Any images, category descriptions and product-category links will be lost by merging.

  1. Open your eCom back office and click ProductsCategories.
  2. Locate the products you plan on merging. As these will be deleted, save the descriptions and images. Make note of the products that will be affected.
  3. In your Retail account click Inventory.
  4. Click Categories, located at the bottom of the page under INVENTORY SETTINGS.
  5. Click the name of a category to open its settings.
  6. Click Merge.
  7. Select the categories you're merging into this category.
  8. Click Merge.

Merging example

Product A is in Category 3.

Cat 1
----Cat 2
Cat 3
----Cat 4 
----Cat 5
--------Cat 6

If Category 3 is merged into Category 1, the new category tree in Retail and eCom is as follows:

Cat 1
----Cat 2
----Cat 4 
----Cat 5
--------Cat 6

  • Product A is now in Category 1.
  • Categories 4-6 are reassigned to Category 1.
  • Category 3 is deleted.
