Hi. How can we help?

Cash Drawer Won't Open / Receipts Won't Cut (Windows)

The cash drawer gets its power from the receipt printer. Make sure that all cords and cables are secure. If the receipt printer doesn't have power, the cash drawer won't open.

Windows

On Windows, the cutting options and cash drawer controls are in the driver settings for the printer. To access the driver settings, right click on your Windows icon (usually in the bottom left hand corner of your screen) and click on the Control Panel. You can also use the Windows search function and search for Control Panel

In the top right hand corner of the Control Panel, change the View by drop-down to Category

In the Category labeled Hardware and Sound, click View devices and printers. Your printer should be listed as Star TSP143 unless it has been renamed. Right click on the Star printer icon and click on Printer properties

If you see a shield on the button marked Change Properties, click it before moving forward.

Click on Device Settings and change the information to the following:

  • Paper Type: Receipt
  • Page Cut Type: Partial Cut
  • Document Cut Type: Partial Cut
  • Peripheral Unit Type: Cash Drawer
  • Peripheral Unit 1: Document Top

Click OK and then do a test print from Lightspeed Retail.
