A detailed overview of custom menus

Pictured above are the Menu buttons available by default in your Register's Sale tab. This article will provide a detailed overview of the different types of Custom Menu buttons that you can add to your account.

Custom Menu buttons can be added to any of the four Register tabs and to the Work Order screen:

Once you choose which screen to add the Custom Menu button, you will have four fields to define:

  • Title: This will label the button itself
  • Type: Choose from one of seven available Menu Types
  • Color: Pick a color for the Menu Button
  • Sort Order: Define where along the row of buttons your menu will appear

Some Menu Button types require further setup, which we will expand on in the relevant menu type descriptions below.

Custom Menu Types

Submenu

You can group multiple custom menu buttons that you've created into a single submenu. When a sub‑menu button is clicked, you will be presented with custom menu buttons you've defined within the sub‑menu. To create a new sub‑menu, navigate to Settings > Custom Menus > +New Menu. To place the sub‑menu button, select any of the four Register Tabs or the Workorder menu. Select the submenu by clicking on the pencil below the sub‑menu type.

Category Submenu

After adding this button Type, select a category where it says None (see above). This button, when clicked, will present you with all of the items of that Category assigned to it. If there are Sub‑Categories within the assigned Category, submenu buttons will automatically be generated (see below).

NOTE: This button type is commonly used to automatically create a menu for frequently sold item categories based on existing category structure.
