The Honeywell Voyager barcode scanner comes in corded (1200g and 1250g) or cordless (1202g) models. Both corded and cordless models require no additional software installation or configuration to be used with Lightspeed Retail, simply plug it into an available USB port on your computer, and Lightspeed Retail works with the factory default settings.
The Honeywell Voyager is incompatible with QRcode and 2D barcode scanning.
Corded scanner setup (1200g and 1250g models)
With the corded Honeywell Voyager scanner setup, simply plug it into an available USB port on your computer, and Lightspeed Retail works with the factory default settings.
Cordless scanner setup (1202g model)
Before using your barcode scanner, we recommend charging it for 4 hours.
With the cordless scanner setup, the base provides the link between your barcode scanner and your computer. To establish this link, simply plug the base into an available USB port on your computer and put your scanner on the base. The scanner will make a two-tone beep when successfully connected.
To better understand if your scanner and base are working, scan a barcode and listen for the beeps and look at the LED lights.
Base
Red LED light: the base is powered on.
Green LED light (flashing): the scanner is charging.
Scanner
Green LED light and single beep: the barcode is successfully scanned. The scanner is linked to the base.
Error beep: the barcode is unsuccessfully scanned. The scanner is not linked to the base.
Troubleshooting
As the Honeywell Voyager scanners don't need software installation or reconfiguration, they should work as intended and have only a few troubleshooting options.
If your barcode scanner is not scanning barcodes correctly, you might need to reset the scanner to its factory default settings. To do this you scan the barcodes on page 9-3 of the scanner's User Guide.
If the factory reset does not work, here are some other recommendations:
- Unplug and plug the scanner back into its USB port.
- Unplug and plug the scanner into a different USB port.
- Unplug the scanner, restart your computer and plug the scanner into a different USB port.
- Plug the scanner directly into the computer's USB port (no USB hub).
- Try scanning into a program like Notepad or Word rather than Lightspeed Retail. This will isolate if it's a computer and scanner problem.
Mac users
Do not do the keyboard identification process when you plug in your barcode scanner. Cancel the process if you are prompted to identify a keyboard after plugging in the barcode scanner.
If you accidentally identify your keyboard:
- Go to Settings and re-identify your keyboards.
- Press the Tab key.
- When asked to press the key next to the shift key, press Tab again.
- Try scanning a barcode into Lightspeed Retail again.
If that doesn’t work:
- Unplug the scanner.
- Open Terminal.
- Type sudo rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboardtype.plist and press Enter.
- Enter your computer password if you are prompted, and press Enter.
- Plug in your scanner.
- When the keyboard identification window appears, immediately close it without making any changes.
- Try scanning a barcode into Lightspeed Retail again.
