When an order is made in eCom (C-Series), the order and the customer's information are synced to Retail POS automatically.
If an order was purchased using Pay at pickup, you'll need to manually mark the order as paid once payment is received.
Matching existing customer email in Retail
Once an eCom (C-Series) order is pushed to Retail POS, the system first tries connecting the order to an existing customer. Because e-mail addresses aren't unique in Retail POS, the connection is based on the following rules:
- The email address must match the eCom (C-Series) sale exactly.
- If there are multiple matching customers, the most recently created non-archived customer is chosen.
If there is no matching email once the order is pushed to Retail POS, a new customer account is created in Retail POS with the following customer details:
- First name
- Last name
- Home phone number
- Mobile phone number
- Address
- Company name (if the customer type is business)
Updating customer details in eCom (C-Series)
After an order is made in eCom (C-Series) and a customer account is created in Retail POS, changes made to the customer's details won't update Retail POS. Instead, the changes will sync to the Shipping section of the new sale. Likewise, changes in Retail POS won't sync to eCom (C-Series).
If a customer changes their email in eCom (C-Series) but not in Retail POS, future sales to that customer will be connected to a new customer account in Retail POS. Merge customers to remove duplicate accounts.
