The Verifone MX915 is an EMV-enabled payment terminal for Vantiv triPOS payment processing in Lightspeed Retail. The MX915 is compatible with Lightspeed Retail for desktop and the Lightspeed Retail app for iOS.
In the box
- Verifone MX915 terminal
- 12V power adapter
- Ethernet cable
Physical setup
- Connect the 12V power adapter into the port at the back of your terminal and connect the other end to a power source.
- Connect the ethernet cable into the ETH port at the back of the MX915 terminal. Connect the other end of the ethernet cable directly into your router.
Once the terminal is plugged into a power source and router, it will automatically begin a boot-up and update sequence. This process typically takes several minutes. Once completed, the terminal screen displays an activation code. You can now connect the terminal to Lightspeed Retail.
Configuring the Vantiv Gateway
If you have not already enabled Vantiv as your default gateway in Lightspeed Retail, you will need to configure your payment settings before the payment terminal can be added to your account. You will need to refer to the gateway credentials sent to you by Vantiv.
Note: If you do not have this information on hand, log into Vantiv IQ and navigate to Self Service > Search > Express Credentials. If you have trouble accessing this information, contact Vantiv.
-
Configuring the Vantiv Gateway on your computer
- Log in to Lightspeed Retail as an administrator using your username and password.
- Navigate to Settings > Payment Processing.
- Click + Add Payment Gateway.
- From the drop-down menu, select Vantiv triPOS. The options for the gateway will now display.
- Under Assign a Name, enter a name for the gateway.
- Under gateway credentials, enter the triPOS credentials you received from Vantiv
Note: To prevent errors, it is recommended that you copy and paste your credentials into the corresponding fields. Any leading or trailing spaces will cause connection errors. - If you have a multi-store account, under Select Shops, select all locations that will use the gateway.
- Under Security Options, toggle Allow Credits if you want to be able to refund to a present card without an original receipt.
- Toggle Allow partial approvals to allow a card with insufficient credit or funds to be charged the maximum available amount remaining on the card. This option allows prepaid cards to be cleared without needing to manually split a payment.
- Toggle Prevent duplicate sales to prevent two or more transactions of the same dollar amount to be charged to the same card in a 24-hour period. This setting is intended to reduce the risk of charging a customer twice by mistake.
- Under Credit Card Payment Mapping, for each of the credit and debit card types, select how the corresponding card type will appear on invoices and sales reports. For example, if you created a custom Visa payment type, selecting it from the Visa list will mark all Visa sales as Visa. If you want to change the names of cards in Credit Card Payment Mapping, you will need to set up the credit card payment type in Settings > Payment Types, so the Credit/Debit button appears in Lightspeed Retail.
