Merging items

For optimal functioning of your account, Lightspeed Retail is designed to allow the merging of certain item type. Depending on your item's type, different rules apply and are described in greater detail below.

Merging Singles and Non-Inventory items

eCom data loss 

If you merge a product that has been published to eCom, you may lose important eCom data. For more information, visit Preventing eCom data loss.

A Single can only be merged with another Single. The same rule applies to Non-Inventory items.

  1. From the main menu, click Inventory > Item Search and find the item you want to keep.
  2. In the left menu section Merge, select the checkbox for the item you want to merge into the current item.

  3. Click the Merge button. The items belonging to the old item will now belong to the new one.

Merging Boxes and Assemblies

A Box or an Assembly cannot be merged. If you want to make a Box or Assembly mergeable, remove their associated items in their respective Assembly or Box of Items sections. Afterwards, convert them to a Single.

  1. From the main menu, click Inventory > Item Search.
  2. Find and click the Box or Assembly you want to merge.
  3. In the left menu section Box or Assembly, click the trash bin icon to the left of the associated items.

  4. At the top right, click the blue Save Changes button.
  5. In the left menu section Details, change the Type to Single.

  6. In the left menu section Merge, select the checkbox for the item you want to merge into the current item.

  7. Click the Merge button. The items belonging to the old item will now belong to the new one.
