Use matrix attribute sets in conjunction with item matrices to categorize products in your inventory according to specific attributes. For example, you can create a custom attribute set for a product menu drop-down that would allow you to select the style, size or color for that product. Additionally, you can customize attribute labels with common descriptive words or words that are specific to your industry like: length, gauge, elbow angle, material type, certified, etc.
NOTE: You can create up to 50 custom matrix attribute sets (active and archived).
To create a custom matrix attribute set
- From the main menu, click Inventory > Matrix Attribute Sets > + New Matrix Attribute Set.
-
Add a description for the attribute set.
-
From the # of Attributes drop-down, select 1, 2 or 3 Attributes
-
In the attribute fields, enter descriptive names.
NOTE: If you are an omnichannel merchant, do not use colons (:) in your descriptive names.
- Click Save Changes only when all required values have been entered. You can now associate this custom attribute set with an item matrix. For information on item matrices, refer to Creating matrices.
NOTE: While in the editing mode, you can Archive custom attribute sets as needed.
