Setting up your Customer Facing Display

You can set up Customer Facing Display on a tablet or computer monitor.

To set up Customer Facing Display on an iPad or tablet

  1. Log into Lightspeed Retail.

    If you're using an iPad

    • You must have Lightspeed Retail Manager app installed on your iPad. Click here to download and install the Lightspeed Retail Manager app on your device.
    • Open Lightspeed Retail Manager.
    • Enter your Lightspeed Retail username and password, and tap Sign In.

    If you're using a tablet

    • Open your Web browser, and go to the Lightspeed Retail Web Interface login screen.
    • Enter your Lightspeed Retail username and password, and tap Sign In.
  2. Select the Lightspeed Retail register to link Customer Facing Display to. Customer facing Display will show the sale information for that register only. To select the register, from the main menu, click Sales > Switch Registers and select the register.

  3. From the main menu, click Sales > Customer Display. The Lightspeed Retail interface switches to Customer Facing Display.

To set up Customer Facing Display on a computer monitor

To use Customer Facing Display, you must have a monitor that’s used solely as the Customer Facing Display. If you use the same computer to process sales in Lightspeed Retail or perform any other action a secondary monitor connected to your computer is required.

  1. Open a new Web browser window to used for Customer Facing Display. If you use the same computer to process sales in Lightspeed Retail, you must open the new Web browser session in private or incognito mode:
    • Chrome: Click File > New Incognito Window.
    • Firefox: Click File > New Private Window.
    • Safari: If you use Safari to process sales in Lightspeed Retail, you cannot use another Safari browser session for Customer Facing Display. You must use another browser such as Firefox or Chrome.
    • NOTE: You can also use two different browsers. For example, you can use Firefox to process sales in Lightspeed Retail and Chrome for your Customer Facing Display. If you do, you don't have to set the Customer Facing Display browser session to “private” or “incognito” mode is not required.
  2. Go to the Lightspeed Retail Web Interface login screen.
  3. Enter your Lightspeed Retail username and password and click Sign In.
  4. Select the Lightspeed Retail register to link Customer Facing Display to. Customer facing Display will show the sale information for that register only. To select the register, from the main menu, click Sales > Switch Registers and select the register.
  5. From the main menu, tap Sales > Customer Display. The Lightspeed Retail interface switches to the Customer Facing Display screen.
  6. If you’re using a secondary monitor as your Customer Facing Display, drag the Customer Facing Display browser to your secondary monitor, and make the browser full-screen.
  7. You’re now ready to use your monitor as a Customer Facing Display. Sign in to the same Lightspeed Retail account on the Lightspeed Retail Web Interface, Lightspeed Retail POS app (iPad), or Lightspeed Retail Manager app (iPad), select the register that’s associated with the Customer Facing Display, and process sales.

To add a background image

You can set a custom branded background in Lightspeed Retail that will also be used as the Customer Facing Display background. Go to Branding your shop.
