Adding items manually is recommended for new retailers who have a smaller inventory and cannot wait 5 to 7 business days for our Retail Imports team to process their inventory file. We recommend adding your items manually from the two locations below:
- From the main menu: click Inventory > New Item.
- During a sale: from the main menu, click Sales > New Sale > +New.
NOTE: To keep your new items organized in your inventory, you'll need to create your categories before assigning them to your new items. For more information, see our Categories article.

AdvancedIf you sell items that are the same but have different colors, sizes, or other attributes, such as t-shirts or shoes, create matrices in Inventory > Matrix. This will expedite the process of creating your items manually and depending on the item detail, you'll have the choice to edit all of the items in a matrix at once or individually.
Matrices can have up to three attributes which are determined by their attribute sets. You can opt to use Lightspeed Retail's three built-in attribute sets or create your own custom sets in Settings > Matrix Attribute Sets.For more information, please see the below articles:
