4 b. Setting up your shipping method

To start shipping your 10 products quickly and easily, we recommend setting up a shipping method with:

  • the zone set to your country.
  • a flat shipping rate for all orders, regardless of weight.

Keep in mind that when a customer will choose your shipping method, you'll need to prepare the shipment yourself—such as, postage, packaging and shipping labels— unless you use a fulfillment service or allow for customers to pickup in-store.

NOTE: Depending on if you are a Canadian or American merchant or not, you will have different shipping methods already created in your eCom back office by default. We've included additional instructions where steps differ significantly.

Instructions

If you are not a Canadian or American merchant, you can skip ahead and start configuring your shipping method as a shipping method is already created for you by default.

If you are either a Canadian or American merchant, only the Pickup in Store shipping is created in your back office by default. You will need to create a new shipping method:

  1. From the left menu of your eCom back office, go to Settings > STORE SETTINGS and click Shipping Methods.
  2. At the top of the screen, click Add Shipping Method.
  3. In the popup that displays, add a title for your shipping method—for example, Regular Mail, Courier Service or FedEx. The title determines what your customers will see in your online store.
  4. Select the Default delivery shipping type.
  5. Click Save.

To configure your shipping method settings:

  1. From the left menu of your eCom back office, go to Settings > STORE SETTINGS and click Shipping Methods.
  2. Click on your shipping method's title.
  3. In the INFORMATION section:
    • edit the title for your shipping method—for example, Regular Mail, Courier Service or FedEx. The title determines what your customers will see in your online store.
    • add a description for your shipping method. The description is displayed in the checkout area of your online store.
  4. In the SETTINGS section, enable the setting that applies to your region:
    • Canada and USA: Enable the Calculate taxes automatically toggle.
    • Rest of the world: From the Specify a tax rate drop-down, ensure your country's manual tax rate that you reviewed in 4 a. Configuring automatic and manual taxes is selected.
  5. In the DELIVERY COSTS section, configure your flat shipping rate:
    1. Click Add Weight to create a new weight class.

NOTE: If you are not a Canadian or American merchant, you may already have weight classes created by default. Click Delete for all but one weight class. For the last remaining weight class, click Edit.

    2. In the new window that displays, select the Unit of measurement.
    3. Enter the Minimum weight and the Maximum weight. Ensure the weights your enter encompass the entire range of your 10 products. If you aren't sure what to set as your Maximum weight enter 99999999.
    4. Enter the flat shipping rate (including taxes/VAT) to charge for the weight class.
    5. Click Save.
