Setting up your iPad and stand

No matter which iPad bundle you have, the Vault Pro iPad stand comes pre-assembled for you. If your bundle includes an iPad or if you purchased one as an add-on from us, your iPad also comes pre-inserted into the stand. If you're using your own iPad or purchased one from a different source, you need to insert it into the stand before you set it up.

  • Your iPad and stand are packaged in the same box, as your iPad is already inserted into its stand for you. We include the empty Apple box that your iPad originally came from as well, just in case you need it.

    For a more polished look on your checkout counter, your iPad's Lightning to USB cable is also routed through the stand for you.

    Lastly, your iPad comes pre-configured and with an Install app pre-installed. This helps you bypass most of Apple's iPad setup and install the Retail POS app quickly and easily. You'll need to install the Retail POS app and sign in to test if you've set up your iPad bundle correctly.

    Therefore, all you really need to do is:

     

    1. Turn on your iPad
    2. Join your Wi-Fi network
    3. Install the Retail POS app
    4. Sign in to the Retail POS app

     

    1. Turn on your iPad

     

    1. On your iPad, hold down the Top button until the Apple logo appears onscreen.
    2. Follow Apple's setup instructions.

     

    You'll now be on the Home Screen and see the Install app.

    2. Join your Wi-Fi network

    You need to join your Wi-Fi network to install the Retail POS app and sign in. If you already did when you set up your iPad in section 1, skip to section 3.

     

    1. On your iPad, tap Settings Wi-Fi.
    2. On the right Wi-Fi panel, select your network from the list.
    3. Enter your password and tap Join.

     

    Your Wi-Fi network will now be listed under the Wi-Fi switch and have a checkmark to the left of it.

    3. Install the Retail POS app

    To install the Retail POS app, you first need to sign in to your iPad using your Apple ID. If you already did when you set up your iPad in section 1, skip to the next list of instructions within this section.

     

    To sign in to your iPad using your Apple ID:

     

    1. Tap the Settings app.
    2. Tap Sign in to your iPad.
    3. Enter your Apple ID credentials. Alternatively, tap Don’t have an Apple ID or forgot it? and follow the onscreen instructions to create one or retrieve an existing one.

     

    Once you’ve successfully signed in, you will see your Apple ID details under Settings.

    From here, it’s quick and easy to install the Retail POS app:

     

    1. On the Home Screen, select Install. This takes you directly to the Retail POS app in the App Store.
    2. Tap Get.
    3.  Sign in with your Apple ID.

     

    The Retail POS app will now start installing on your iPad. Once the installation is complete, you’ll be ready to open Retail POS and sign in.

    If you’re using your new Apple ID in the App Store for the first time, however, you need to complete a few additional steps:

     

    1. Tap Review and follow Apple’s onscreen instructions to complete the setup of your Apple ID. This may reset the App Store to its Welcome screen.
    2. If it does, simply return to the Home Screen and tap Install again.

    3. Once returned to the Retail POS page in the App Store, tap Get > Install.

    4. Enter your Apple ID password and tap Sign In.

     

    4. Sign in to the Retail POS app

     

    1. Open the Retail POS app.
    2. Tap Sign In.
    3. Enter your username and password.
      Note: If you haven't set your password yet, please see Signing in and setting your password.
    4. Tap Sign In.

    5. Select a register.
    6. If the register is closed, tap Open register Done.

    You'll now be signed in to your account and on the Profile screen. From the Profile screen, you'll be able to see the status of the devices you'll set up next. It's also from this screen that you'll make a test sale to make sure your iPad bundle is set up correctly.

  • With the EMEA bundle, the Vault Pro iPad stand comes pre-assembled for you. If you also purchased an iPad from us as an add-on, your iPad is already inserted into its stand for you as well. All you need to do is:

     

    1. Set up your iPad
    2. Join your Wi-Fi network
    3. Install the Retail POS app
    4. Sign in to the Retail POS app

     

    Note: If you're using your own iPad or you purchased one from a different source, you need to insert your iPad into its stand before you set it up. Optionally, for a more polished look when you charge your iPad or print receipts to a USB-compatible receipt printer, you can also route a Lightning to USB cable through the Vault Pro iPad stand.

     

    1. Set up your iPad

    If your iPad is new, you need to set it up. If your iPad isn't new, skip to the next section.

     

    1. On your iPad, hold down the Top button until the Apple logo appears onscreen.
    2. Follow Apple's setup instructions.

    You should now be on the Home screen of your iPad.

     

    2. Join your Wi-Fi network

    You need to join your Wi-Fi network to install and use Retail POS. If you already did join your network when you set up your iPad in the previous section, skip to section 3.

     

    1. On your iPad, tap Settings Wi-Fi.
    2. On the right Wi-Fi panel, select your network from the list.
    3. Enter your password and tap Join.

    Your Wi-Fi network should now be listed under the Wi-Fi switch and have a checkmark to the left of it. If you're having issues joining you network, please follow Apple's troubleshooting steps.

     

    3. Install the Retail POS app

    1. On your iPad, open the App Store.
    2. In the search bar, enter "Retail POS" and tap Search.
    3. To the right of Lightspeed Retail POS, tap Get Install.
    4. In the alert, tap Create New Apple ID and follow Apple's onscreen instructions. Alternatively, tap Use Existing Apple ID and sign in.
      Note: If you're creating a new Apple ID, select None from the payment type options to avoid having to enter your credit card information. As your employees will be using your iPad, only use an existing Apple ID if it was created for business purposes.
    5. Once the installation is complete, tap Open.

    The Retail POS app should now be installed and opened on your iPad.

     

    4. Sign in to the Retail POS app

    1. Open the Retail POS app.
    2. Tap Sign In.
    3. Enter your username and password.
    4. Tap Sign In.

    5. Select a register.
    6. If the register is closed, tap Open register Done.
